Oil leaks not only present a serious environmental hazard, but they can also result in serious faults in your electrical system.
Thermographic inspection allows for the detection of poor connections and other “hot spots” in your electrical systems. We clean all insulators to help reduce “tracking” due to dirt. A visual inspection of all components allows us to predict where failures may occur. Correct operation of all switches and breakers are verified. As well, we remove the vegetation growth from your substation, and file the required substation condition report, as required by the Electrical Safety Authority.
Your oil filled equipment can be sampled allowing us to determine the internal operating conditions without going offline. Oil is a medium used quite extensively in electrical power equipment for cooling and electrical insulation. Equipment such as power transformers and oil circuit breakers, depend on the oil’s quality. If you are unsure about the condition of your transformer, you should have it tested. An oil test can check for: PCB’s, Water Content, ASTM specifications, Dissolved Gas in Oil Concentrations, Furans and Inhibitor Content.
